Neural Gastric Electrical Stimulation (NGES) is a technique which can restore impaired gastric motility using high-frequency voltage stimulation sequentially  delivered to sets of circumferentially positioned electrodes.  The aim of this virtual NGES demonstration is to provide an Internet-based NGES simulation utilizing a three-dimensional model of a human stomach. You will be  asked to determine the number of electrode sets, their positions on the gastric wall, and the associated stimulation parameters. Once this parametric data is  entered, the system will simulate actual NGES sessions on a three-dimensional model of the stomach implemented using Bezier-curves.

The virtual NGES system is implemented using advanced JAVA technology. To run the simulation, you must download the Java Runtime Environment for your  Operating System. Please make sure you are using Internet Explorer (versions 4.0 and over), and click on the link below. Once you follow the link, just click on 'download'  under the 'JRE' column.

Internet Explorer (Versions 4.0 and higher only) Users:.

Please click here to download java.

IN ORDER FOR THE SIMULATION TO APPEAR IN REAL TIME, IT MUST BE EXECUTED ON A COMPUTER WITH 166 MHZ OR GREATER PROCESSOR. FOR SLOWER COMPUTERS, THE TIMING MIGHT NOT CORRESPOND EXACTLY TO THE STIMULATION PARAMETERS.

Note: If you are having any problems when running the simulation, please make sure that you are using Internet Explorer (version 4.0 and higher). If you have any firewall, or popup blocking software, please disable it for the duration of the simulation. Also, please make sure that your Internet Explorer security settings are at Medium, by selecting Tools -> Internet Options -> Security.
